The eighth rule of being a man is:
Stick up for what you believe in
Sticking up for what you believe in is another form of doing the right thing. Because if you believe in something then you should stick up for it.
Take up the cause.
Dedicate some of your time and energy to improving the situation.
It’s one thing to say you believe in something. But it’s another thing to do something about it.
You can say you believe in ecology, or human rights, or feeding the world, but what are you doing about those things?
You could donate time or money. You could work to educate others about those causes. You could volunteer for an organization that’s working to make a difference.
Unless you do something… Unless you take action you’re not actually making a difference.
And if you don’t make a difference, then you aren’t sticking up for what you believe in.
But it doesn’t have to be some great cause or world-changing belief that you stick up for.
It’s just as important that you stick up for the things that are important to you. Even if you don’t think they’re important to anyone else or as big as world-peace.
Every day, you can make a difference in the lives of those you touch and the world around you by sticking up for the small things and the regular people.
In fact, this is the way you can often make the biggest difference in the world.
Every day you can stick up for your love, your family, your children, your friends, people who could use a small gesture, or people who could use a big help.
Your wife, your kids, and your family rely on you to defend them and stick up for them. It makes a huge difference to them if they know you’re on their side, support them, and stick up for them!
And every day you can stick up for what you believe in too. Like freedom, fairness, hope, healing, generosity, love, honesty, kindness, and truth.
You don’t have to believe in those exact things on my list above. It’s not about believing in what someone tells you to. It’s about believing in yourself and having your own beliefs.
Once you believe in yourself and have your own beliefs, then stick up for what you believe in. ACT in ways that show that belief!
Don’t hide your actions, allow them to be loud and proud when you stick up for what you believe in.
Sticking up for what you believe in gets easier every time you do it. And it makes the world a better place every time you do it.
So stick up for what you believe in. Make the world a better place. And stick up for yourself!
